Charlton Ath v Hartlepool Utd Preview

Party time in SE7, singers, the Red Devils parachute team, a sizeable Hartlepool contingent dressed in Smurf costumes, the post match presentation of the League One trophy and medals, and hopefully a win to equal Fulham’s record 101 point haul for the division.

The season will long live in the memory and Charlton will be determined that their next change of division will also be via promotion, the club will be anxious to avoid another sojourn in League One.

Though the mood will be happy and light hearted, Chris Powell will want to round the season off in style with a win. The manager has said he will put out his strongest team so there will not be too many decisions for him to make.

Ben Hamer will return in goal and Leon Cort has probably overtaken Matt Taylor as Michael Morrison’s partner. Virtual ever presents, Chris Solly and Rhoys Wiggins, pick themselves in the full-back berths.

Scott Wagstaff is probably rated ahead of the enigmatic Green at the moment and regular central midfield duo, Dale Stephens and Danny Hollands, are likely to start with Johnnie Jackson on the left. Yann Kermorgant and Bradley Wright-Phillips will supply the firepower.

There will be competition for places on the bench with the likes of Haynes, N’Guessan, Green, Cook and Pritchard battling for three spots alongside Matt Taylor and John Sullivan.

Charlton may line-up like this:

Hamer; Solly, Cort, Morrison, Wiggins; Wagstaff, Stephens, Hollands, Jackson; Kermorgant, Wright-Phillips.

Subs: Sullivan, Taylor, Green, N’Guessan, Haynes.

The referee will be Iain Williamson from Berkshire.

The Addicks will be confident of keeping their focus, grabbing the three points and ending the season in the perfect way.

Meanwhile, the club promised to announce details of the new kit manufacturer in due course when news of the termination of the Macron deal was revealed earlier in the week.
It will be confirmed on Saturday, that from next season, the club’s kit suppliers will be Nike. The change to Nike has been mooted for weeks so will come as no surprise to most fans. The club will revert back to a black away strip, a colour that was last used in the Addicks Premier League days.
The Nike deal is likely to please many fans and the club will be anticipating improved sales of replica kit.
Those anxious to see the new kit will be able to view it on the mannequin in The Valley’s reception area after the game tomorrow.
